My GAME Plan
After reviewing the NETS for Teachers on the International
Society for Technology in Education standards I have created a plan for the
follow:
Goal:
1. Facilitate and
Inspire Student Learning and Creativity: Teachers use their knowledge of
subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences
that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and
virtual environments.
d. Model
collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students,
colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.
4. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship
and Responsibility : Teachers
understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving
digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional
practices.
a.
Advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and
ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for
copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources
Action
#1 My lessons will
include face-to-face and virtual environments such a Skype with students and
teachers from a different state and set up a classroom blog. I hope to blog
with the students from a different state also.
#2 My lessons will include a focus on ethical use of digital
information. Students will be required to provide documentation of all sources
including images and music.
Monitor
Students will journal daily during units that include Skype,
blogging, or any other digital activity or Internet work we do. The journal
entries will include what he or she accomplished each day and what work still
needs to be completed.
Evaluate
I will use a rubric created for blogging, planning questions
students will use during Skype discussions, and require students to use a
source such as bibme.org.

Hi Shelly.
ReplyDeleteok this is my fourth try to comment.
I chose the 1st standard like you and the 5th one unlike you. I did like what you wrote about the 4th standard. You have a good game plan for monitoring and evaluating your students. I like the way you organized it.
I have a question, do you have student computers or computer stations in your classroom or do you have to go to a lab.
Thank you for your post
Scott
I wanted to suggest a site called United Streaming for helping you with the 1st NETS-T standard. It has thousands of school approved videos of all lengths and subject areas from Discovery and from other educational sources. Our school has it and I think you can have a school wide license or individual license.

Thank you
Scott
Hey Scott,
ReplyDeleteI like to use the computer lab as much as possible because I only have 2 classroom computers. Signing the lab out is pretty easy but take planning.
Thanks for your idea about United Streaming. I think my new school has access to it! I am not sure what technology I will have or even if I'll have a Smart Board.
I visited your blog but you have to approve my comments.I've been back to check it and it's still there.:(
Thanks for you comments!
Shelley
Shelley,
ReplyDeleteIt seems like many of us chose the same indicator, the one regarding the safe and ethical practice of the internet. I believe this is so because it is clearly extremely important. I think it is great that you use the computer lab as much as possible. The more expose the students have to different types of technology across the content areas the better prepared they will be for 21st century learning.
I'm going to take Scott's suggestion for myself, I have never heard of United Streaming. Sounds like a fantastic site! I look forward to learning more about it.
I hope your new school has more access to the technology so that you can continue to use it as much as possible.
Good luck!
Nicole
Nicole,
ReplyDeleteThe safe and ethical practice is a tough one. I plan to use some of the activities we used from our previous class. Alan November gave us lots of example activities! I need to remember that my middle school students are new to the Internet and they think that anything goes including downloading music.
I'm pretty sure my new school has access to United Streaming but limits how many minutes you can show any type of movie. I'm just happy we have it!
